Following the success of its Wenceslao Ayguals de Izco
Short Story International Competition (now in its third year)
and of its J.M. Borrás Jarque local history prize (second
year), the Associació Cultural “Amics de Vinaròs”
has pleasure in once again marking its range of cultural interests
by announcing the launch of the Gabriel Puig Roda International
Watercolour competition, in celebration of our most internationally-acclaimed
artist. The District Council of Castellón has generously
agreed to participate in sponsoring the prize, which will be
announced and presented to the winner, at the same time as the
other two awards, during the CULTURAL DINNER “Nit de les
lletres i de l’art” (Night of Literature and Art)
which the Association will host in 2009, according to the following
rules:

1. Contestants
Artists of all nationalities can enter the competition.
2. Technique and theme/subject
Open and original theme/subject. The work shall not have previously
received an award in any other competition.
3. Size and packaging
Dimensions will be between 70x50 minimum. Works protected with
glass will not be admitted. The works will be mounted on a stand
that will guarantee their handling and conservation. Furthermore,
the work must be sent in a resistant packaging to prevent possible
damage of the same and that can be used for returning the work.
4. Submission of the works
Each artist can submit a maximum of two works. The works should
be delivered to:

5. Exhibition
The chosen works will be exhibited for the duration of time
and in a suitable place as determined by the organisers.
A digital photographic catalogue of all the works submitted
will be produced, with special emphasis on the chosen works.
The catalogue will be sent in CD or DVD format to all participants.
6. Award
The following award has been established, and it will be subject
to taxes according to the present legislation.
1st prize of €3.000 and an original sculpture by “José
Córdoba”
7. Participants and Prize-winners
The work awarded with FIRST PRIZE will become, in all respects,
property of the event organisers
The prize-winners will be required to attend the Gala Dinner
which will take place in November 2009 in Vinaròs where
the award presentation ceremony will be held.
8. Panel
The Panel will consist of dignitaries of the Culture and Arts
world, a representative of the Local Council and one representative
of the Associació Cultural “Amics de Vinaròs”.
The Panel’s decision will be final. The decision will
be made public and the winner will be informed DIRECTLY. Other
participants will be able to check the results through the relevant
media or on the Association’s website.
9. General provisions
The Event’s organisation will provide a receipt to each
one of the participants at the time of delivery or on receipt
of the works. This receipt will have to be presented to allow
the works to be returned.
All transport, insurance and any other expenses incurred in
the dispatch of the works will be the responsibility of the
participant.
The organisers will make every effort to protect the works received
but cannot accept responsibility for loss, damage, theft or
any other act beyond their control and which may occur during
transport, exhibition or return of the works.
Should the participants wish to take out insurance, this will
be at their own expense.
10. Removal and returning of the works
Non-awarded works can be removed by the author or by a duly
authorised person at the same place and at the same stipulated
time of its delivery, within 60 days from the date of the Award
Decision. If the work has not been removed within this period
of time, it will be understood that the author waives any right
over the same and that the work is donated to the Associació
Cultural “Amics de Vinaròs”. If authors expressly
demand in writing the return of the work, after having sent
the relevant receipt, the works will be returned to them properly
packaged using the indicated delivery method, with any costs,
charges and insurance at the expense of the authors.
11. Identification of the works and documentation
The works must be identified with the theme or title of the
work on the back. The paintings should not be signed in order
to make the selection process more transparent. A sealed envelope
should accompany the works, containing the following information:
o Name and surname
o Photocopy of Identity card or and Passport
o Address
o Contact telephone and/or e-mail address
o Work title or theme
o Digital photograph of the work submitted
Taking part in the competition implies that you accept these
rules, and the Panel has the authority to settle any non-foreseen
event. Once this has been settled, the Board of Directors of
the Associació Cultural “Amics de Vinaròs”
will be the only competent entity to settle any eventual problems.
